Personal Statement:
My scholarly interests include interpersonal communication, instructional communication, and intrapersonal communication in organizations. I am currently investigating the differences between traditional face-to-face instruction and asynchronous electronic instruction which is particularly salient with the shift of universities and colleges toward online course offerings. In addition to researching online education, I also teach many of the online communication courses here at Northwestern State University. I believe that professors should provide a non-threatening and positive environment for students, regardless of instructional medium, if they want to develop a supportive and collaborative classroom. For this reason, I strive to link the goals and materials of the courses I teach to my students’ desires for personal fulfillment, professional success, and stimulating academic experiences.
